About Us
Inner Wisdom Children’s Village is a space for children to tune into their natural rhythm within a supportive and inspiring community. In a fast paced world dominated by technology, it is of the upmost importance we give children a place to just be. At Inner Wisdom we provide the space for children to connect with their body, heart, and mind for an afternoon of nature exploration, creative play, and connecting with friends. We are located in Cloverdale, CA and utilize local public parks including Porterfield Creek Preserve, City Park, and Lake Sonoma Recreation Area, as well as Private lands of the 40 Acre Wood and Bowerbird Permaculture Farm.
We draw on the philosophies and practices of Play Based Learning, Waldorf education, Forest School, Earth based traditions, and permaculture principles.
About Shannon
Founder & Director

Shannon spent a good portion of her childhood in a beautiful home daycare, where she was given the space to engage in hours of imaginative and collaborative play with friends. Her dharma of leadership began there - setting up classrooms out of waffle blocks to lead the toddlers in art activities, igniting the “big girls club” where school aged children mentored preschool children. As a teenager she continued to volunteer at the home daycare and became an active member of the Youth Service Advisory Council for the Sonoma County Volunteer Center - organizing and producing large scale volunteer projects for teens across the county.
She obtained her BA in Child Development/Elementary Education from Humboldt State University in 2010. During her years in college she worked for several after school programs, student taught at a Waldorf inspired charter school and volunteered with foster youth. In 2011 she co-founded the Adventure Team for YMCA Camp Sequioa Lake, and launched a Boys & Girls Club after school program at Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts. As a Program Director she aided in successfully expanding and enriching the Middle School Programs of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Sonoma County, reaching hundreds of underserved youth in the region. She’s spent the past few years as an unschooling mentor, private caregiver for toddlers and a behavior therapist for children with developmental challenges.
In addition to working with youth, Shannon is a Kundalini and Kripalu Yoga Instructor and women's group facilitator. In her free time you can find her tromping through the forests, shaking it out at ecstatic dance or connecting with loved ones. Shannon is beyond excited to return to her home of Sonoma County and launch Inner Widsom Children’s Village for the Cloverdale Community.
